Because paper is hygroscopic, it is very
susceptible to changes in relative humidity. For optimum printing and
paper storage conditions, humidity levels should be maintained between
50-60% RH.
Electrostatic buildup, web breaks, toner adhesion and paper curl are all problems caused by dry
air in the printing industry. Changes in humidity can cause the
physical dimensions of the paper to change which results in
misregistration of colors in multi-pass jobs. Dry air might
cause electrostatic buildup, which could make paper sheets stick to
one another and cause paper jam issues.
All these problems can be greatly decreased by properly humidifying the environment of the
printing presses, reel stand areas and paper stores.
Neptronic’s humidifiers can help create the optimal ambient conditions for the printing and photographic industries. Our vast selection of controllers, sensors and humidistats help you accurately and reliably monitor and control your humidifier according to your needs.
